Why I started maihoathon
maihoathon began with a concern I could not set aside. Divination can offer a perspective worth reflecting on, but it can also be used to take advantage of people when they most need to be heard.
What troubles me is seeing traditions that have not been studied with enough care turned into confident judgments about someone’s life. When worry becomes a reason to sell another reading, or trust is used to make someone increasingly dependent, it is the person who shared their story who bears the cost.
Someone facing a difficult choice at work or uncertainty in a relationship may place a great deal of hope in what they hear. I believe anyone offering a reading needs to remember that before speaking about another person’s life.
Someone who arrives feeling uncertain should not leave feeling more afraid.
That is where I wanted maihoathon to begin. Not with a claim to have every answer, but with a more careful approach to divination, grounded in respect for both the knowledge and the person asking.
The founder of maihoathon
Trust takes more than reassuring words
For me, respecting a tradition also means not assuming I understand it completely. The I Ching has its own history, conventions, and differences between schools. Careful study, comparison, and honesty about limits need to come before confident claims.
On maihoathon, you can see the hexagram, its moving lines, and the method used for your reading. You can also explore the 64-hexagram library and read the accompanying articles. Showing the basis of a reading does not make it infallible. What matters is that you can question it, and that mistakes are acknowledged and corrected.
Your story deserves to be heard, not decided for you
You do not need to know the I Ching to begin. Perhaps you are wondering what a silence means, weighing a new opportunity, or trying to put a lingering feeling into words. Those questions deserve a calm response, not dismissal or more fear.
A reading offers a perspective to consider, not a verdict on your future. You may connect with part of it, disagree with another, or need time to think. No hexagram can replace your experience, your circumstances, or your right to choose.
Here, you can cast a hexagram using Mai Hoa or the Six-Line method, explore the library and articles, and keep readings in your journal on this device to revisit as your story unfolds.
A place still taking shape
maihoathon is an independent project, built and improved one piece at a time. My disappointment with other approaches is not a reason to claim that this one is always right. These words only matter if they are reflected in the readings, the way feedback is received, and the willingness to put mistakes right.
If something does not seem right, or you would like to share a suggestion, you can write to me at [email protected]. I want there to be room for the things that did not meet your expectations, too.
Content is for reflection and reference only, not a substitute for medical, legal, or financial advice.
If something has been on your mind
Take a little time with your question. You do not need to have everything worked out before you begin.
